About Us

Ku Promotions is the leading promotions company on the North Coast and has been presenting shows of touring artists for over 20 years. It is also the the only female-run promotions company to appear in Stuart Coupe’s book “The Promoters”.

Ku Promotions was best known as the local/regional promoter for world and roots artists. Over the last few years, Ku has expanded into many genres of music to include better-known and more commercial acts. Ku is now synonymous with excellent music from artists both internationally renowned and Australian grown.

Ku has presented sell-out shows for Xavier Rudd, The Cat Empire and Missy Higgins, Ben Lee, Kisschasy, Damien Rice (Ireland) and Martha Wainwright (USA) and many  more. Damien Rice told audiences in Melbourne his favourite show in Australia was here with Ku.

A highlight of Ku Promotions performances is that many of them are held in alternative venues to the usual pub circuit, thereby attracting an ever-growing, broad, all ages audience. We have a reputation for creating fun, intimate and enjoyable settings for shows. As a result, many acts are now requesting to work with Ku Promotions in the beautiful old country halls that are such a rich part of the shire’s history.

Ku can fulfill all promotional needs including booking venues, production, accommodation, arranging publicity, organizing media interviews, poster printing and distribution, ticket sales and other promotional endeavours. We also specialise in publicity on a local level for all sorts of shows.

We consistently aim to provide shows of an impeccable standard, with artists and musicians from all over the globe and right here in Australia.

Ku Promotions was originally formed by Suzie Mylecharane in 1986 in the Tweed Shire (now Byron Shire) with the aim of helping arrange shows and publicity for touring acts.

In 2009, Kat Cobley, who had been previously involved with Ku for many years on a volunteer level, took over the business. Kat has a Bachelor Of Business (Marketing) and has worked in marketing and promotions, as well as booking shows on a local level, for over 20 years prior to Ku Promotions. Her passion for live music and performance started at an early age with her learning to play the keyboards and performing in a travelling dance troupe.

She is committed to maintaining Ku’s reputation of excellence  and to keeping all genres of music and live performance alive in the beautiful halls scattered throughout the shire.
